Summer School

*Summer School Registration opens April 17th and closes June 15th.

2024 GHLA Summer School Term: July 2 - July 31

Final Exams: July 29 - Aug 2    Diploma Exams: Aug 1 - Aug 9

Summer School Enhancement Fee: $100 (paid once registration is approved)

GHLA Summer School will be offered online through our Moodle platform. We offer both core academic and option courses at the 10, 20 and 30 levels. A list of our available courses can be found under Quick Links above. All courses are asynchronous.

*Diploma course consideration - GHLA has only one diploma writing centre in August and it is located in Strathmore, AB.

Most students do not receive a final mark in Term 2 until the end of June. By then it will be too late to register. If you think you may need a summer course do not wait, register now. First priority will be given to students needing a course to graduate or move on to the next grade level or a post-secondary institution.

Summer school programming is extremely condensed – it requires lots of effort and time each day.  It condenses a 5-month program into a 1-month period.   Because of this, we encourage you to consider the following:

  • Enroll early! You may be able to get a jump start on classes if our registration team sends your login details before July.
  • Students may register in ONE summer school course unless special permission is granted by our admin.
  • Carefully consider your time commitment.  Will you be working?  Core subjects should take 125 hours, which means 4 hours per day throughout July.
  • Course work must be completed in July and will not be extended into the fall semester.
  • Talk to your school counsellor or principal about your plan to take a summer school course as this may alter the plan they have created for you for the upcoming school year.
  • Consider carefully which courses you’d like to take as some are more ideal than others.
